Mix & Match
Rope “speed-dating” to get to know new people
If you would like to get to know & tie with new people, this is the event for you!
We will start the afternoon with a short discussion about how to find your match in rope. What do you look for in a rope partner? How do you decide to tie (or not to tie) with someone? What do you talk to them about beforehand?
After this, we will continue with a mix & match, which includes practical rope "speed dating" exercises that allow you to tie with multiple different people. It's a great way to get to know new people and immediately find out whether or not you "click"!
We will also include some exercises on how to give & receive feedback in a constructive way, as well as an exercise on setting boundaries and listening to your feelings surrounding this.
Requirements
This event is open to riggers, rope bottoms and switches, regardless of level and style preferences. It is open to everyone, regardless of whether or not you have been to one of our events before.
This event does not teach technical skills. If you plan to participate as a rigger, you must already have some basic skills (minimum: single column ties and basic knowledge of frictions).
Those who wish to participate as a bottom must have reasonable body awareness and be able to communicate when something feels wrong.
For riggers, 2-3 ropes are required. We also have rope available for sale for €50 per set of 3 ropes.
Tickets: €20 per person
Tickets are non-refundable. However, for this event you are able to sell your ticket to someone else who wishes to attend. Please send us a message with the nickname of the person you have sold your ticket to, so we can update the guest list.
Practical info
Doors will be open for entry from 12:30 to 13:30. You are able to leave at any time, but entry outside of this time is not possible.
Our venue is located a 5-minute walk from Weesp train station. The exact address is shown on the ticket.
Our gorgeous rope space is located on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the building. Blankets, cushions and yoga mats are available to use. There is a changing room where you can leave your coat, shoes & bags, and a toilet on each floor.
Unfortunately, there is no elevator and access to the space is only via stairs.
Parking near the venue is paid until 17:00 on Saturdays.
This event will be held in English. Participants are encouraged to ask for clarification if something is unclear, in which case the hosts will try their best to provide additional explanation in English or Dutch.
We will be providing free tea, coffee, lemonade, and some nibbles.
Please note that this event will take place in the bamboo room on the 2nd floor of our venue, simultaneously to day 1 of the Strappado Immersion workshop taking place on the 3rd floor. It is not possible to attend both of these events at the same time.
Rules for this event
Be excellent to each other.
Please leave your shoes, ego, and quarrels at the door.
Topless is allowed for all genders. Bottom underwear stays on.
Please put everything (mats, blankets, pillows, etc.) back where you found them & tidy up after yourself.
Be mindful of the neighbours. Please keep your noise levels down in the stairways and outside the venue, and make sure to close the entrance door behind you when you come inside.
Safety is important to us. Please tie within your skill level and keep your own and your partner's safety in mind. If you need help, please ask for it. If you have any concerns about safety, please do not hesitate to talk to the organisers or the people around you.
Using the suspension points is not allowed during the Mix & Match.
Drinks in closed bottles are allowed in the main room.
No alcohol & drug consumption inside the venue. If you appear clearly inebriated, we may refuse access or ask you to leave.
Taking pictures is not allowed during the Mix & Match.
